I've been looking around but was hoping someone could point me to a web site or a book that identifies hazaardous marine life and their ranges...

sort of .. This is what fire coral looks like ...
This is what it does ...
this is where you might find it ...

an additional section on what to do about it would be cool..

That would have been REALLY useful....
 
Thanks.. from google I got a few hundered hits on the DAN class and on hazardous waste.

I didn't even think to try Amazon..
 
Unless it's somthing that you *KNOW* is OK (like lobster or scallops), and is in season and is not in a protected area, just consider it all hazardous.

Pretty much everything in the ocean that hasn't been eaten by something else has some way to protect itself, and a lot of the creatures that aren't actually dangerous can be stressed or hurt by us touching or annoying them.

Just watch and enjoy.
