Seller claims it’s an hp120cubic ft tank brand PST. Can’t tell what year it was manufactured; 1981?
Also, I know there was/is concerns about PST tanks (something about REE) and older tanks in general. Any insight here for this one?

e9791 is a PST 3500 psi tank, need dimensions to be sure if HP120 but it probably is

exemption is renewed through 2026. they lapsed for like a month because the current parent company that bought out PST doesn't do scuba so wasn't aware of the exemption at the time, but the next renewal hopefully will be less eventful

be sure they prestretch the tank when doing the hydro

Any idea on when this tank was born? To the left of “REE” it seems to say “61A01” with an “81” underneath it. 1961? 1981? Or maybe it says “GIA01”?

That's 6/2001.

I believe that IA18 (read in a clockwise direction) is PST's requalification number for the original hydro test.

The PST HP (3,500 psig) 120 is 28" tall (without boot and valve), the 100 is 24" tall, and the 80 is 20" tall. These three all have OD = 7.25", same as a Luxfer Al 80.

I always believed these cylinders are galvanized--even the painted cylinders. (I currently own a pair of HP 120's and a pair of blue HP 80's. Used to own a pair of HP 100's, too. Purchased them all new beginning in 1988. Dove/dive them only in fresh water.) However, someone, on one of these threads, seemed to imply that some of the painted ones might not be.

Yep even the painted ones are hot dipped galvanized.
