I only have a few days in mid April. Have never dove Cancun or Cozumel. Going with family. My teen son and I want to get two days of good diving. What do you recommend? Used to diving California and Panama. Taking Regs, mask, snorkel, fins, computers, BC’s, fins and 2mil long sleeve under shirts. panama water is normally around 82. About the same here? Any input greatly appreciated

so you are staying at the grand caribe solaris right in cancun?

If you're talking about two consecutive days and you want the best diving, then you should go to Cozumel for an overnight. It's about 2 hours, maybe 3, to get there via bus or cab to playa and the ferry across. There might still be a puddle jumper flight from Cancun to Cozumel, you'd have to investigate that. It's low enough altitude so you could dive and fly back on the same day.

But what I would do is get up very early and cab it to playa, take an early morning ferry over, then dive all day, stay over, dive the next, then hop on the ferry in the afternoon and cab or bus back to Cancun. (If you don't like the getting up at 4-5 am part, you could always do the more sensible thing and go over in the afternoon or evening before) The diving is so much better on Cozumel it's worth it. There are lots of dive ops and hotels that people will recommend if you go on the Cozumel forum.

No need to go through all that time and expensive for a couple of days of diving. I recommend you contact Nico at CenoteXperience. They are located in Playa Del Carmen. They dive cenotes, the mainland and go over to Cozumel if you really want to. CenoteXperience - Cavern, Cave and Ocean Diving in Playa del Carmen Yucatan Mexico - Home
You can also dive out of Playa Mujeres, it isn't quit as good as out of Playa, Puerto Adventuras or Cozumel, but it is a heck of a lot closer to Cancun.

Ha. Op when are you going? We might be at GR Solaris at the same time (and looking to dive)
