Good news,

I am just told that there is an ice built up (about 1 1/2 inch) all over the quarry at Blue Springs.

Anyone wants to jump in an ice in Hoosier land this coming week?

Sorry WT, but I'm not comfortable diving under the ice with no drysuit experience. Next year maybe, but not yet.

I was hoping to find some folks to dive on 2/17, but now with BS frozen over I've PMed JP to see if Joe's is still clear.

do it easy:
Are you planning on chipping a hole at the edge or cutting a hole in the middle? 1 1/2 inches seems a little thin for walking on. :no

It's called the "mini stride". You keep walking until you fall in :rofl3:

It was 1.5 inches 4-5 days ago. With the temps we've had, he's most likely planning on the thickness being significantly greater than that by the end of the week. It most likely will be. This is just brutal!

Gottcha! Hope it's clear and thick!

I hope it goes away! I've recently purchased my first drysuit and I'm itching to begin to us it. With this weather I most likely won't be diving again until March. :116:

I think it is more than 1 1/2 inch because when I went to the lake last Saturday, it was more than 3 inch at the edge. Like I said, I couldn't dive because I couldn't make any holes....

As I recall, we have a couple of divers who are interested in an ice diving before having a cold winter... Now, nobody actually goes out.....

So what you're really saying is "Put your money where your mouth is!" :D
