Hey Guys...I dove with my nex gen this weekend the water under the Ice was
cold 3 c, I was wearing the c100 undergarmet with fleece pants and sweat shirt under it, and it was quite nice although the neck area kind of felt cold in the begining.. as to my feet i was wearing some fleece socks from mountain co-ap and the treck boots, after standing there for some time i could feel the cold as well but this wasn't that criticall, the worst were my hands. I used the bare dry system rings and gloves, it is kind of nice to be able to put them on without any effort and not having any leaks eather, but the size I got were MED.with build in liner, they did fit me like a glove :) which led to being really cold in the water.
Once they started to shirink wrap arroud my hands I could really feel the cold.
So for my second dive I used some coffe stear sticks and used them as a equalization device under mu cuff seal, and I'll tell you what a difference, I wish they were like one way valves so I could keep the air in them up to certain time,
as soon I raised my hands the air would travel up to the gloves and create the insulation but doing the opposit would loos the insulation so it was kind of a play time...but anyway I have remplaced the gloves with build in liner for a set of removable liner. easier to dry it out if you get any moisture, plus the actual glove that you fit inside the blue rubber gloves seems to be twice as thick as the previous once, so I hope this will help in the cold. the only negative think I have to say about the second set is that the leftover material from the yellow inserts(gloves) kind of gets in the way while trying to fit the ring system together, but with patiance you can fit it without much trouble.
Othar than that the suit itself feels really good even in the extreme conditions and no leaks what so ever.

Thanks for the replies. Lately, I finished my ice dive cert. (yay) with two more dives in a loca quarry. This time I was first in the water and with the help of those feet warmers that you open and shake and place between the neoprene boot and the felt socks, my feet stayed toasty warm. It helped that I wasn't standing on the ice for three hours before I suited up. My fingers got really cold by the end of the second dive so I ordered the OS dry glove system and am looking forward to how well they will work for me. The off-the-rack Nex-Gen with the CT200 undergamernt from Bare continued to serve me very well. I was toasty throughout the dives. I do need more bouyancy practice however. At times in the dives I felt like a neophite grappling for my bc dumps or trying to dump ds air (I'm pretty new to my new love (ds)).

Thanks again for the replies and comments,

Mike

you guys are getting me pumped for my ice diving course at the end of march. I am currently wearing the T100 undergarment, and have dove it in 4C or 39F water. It was a bit chilly. With the proper clothing on underneath, I'm not even slightly worried.

I asked my store why they sold me the T100 and not the CT200 with my drysuit. They said for diving here in BC, the T100 is plenty most of the time, and it's easy to add more layers. The CT200 can be too heavy for summer dives. Made sense to me.

I'm really curious to see how the Skaana gloves work out. I'll be out diving this weekend with them for the first time.

Hi Bcsean...

well I'll tell you the experience is fabolous, remember the first time you penetrated a wreck, well it's kind of like that the visibility is obscured and very different, I defenitly love it... you will realize then how much this rope really means to you , unless you are a gooru in navigation search and recovery.....anyway just a good will sugestion. I have tryed both glove systems and the akaana seem to be a nice product although if you consider pros and cons with the bare system you will probably choose bare.
kaana doesn't have the ring system patent to remove the glove , once you click the glove in, they are hard to get them off alone. With the bare system you simply unscrew teh ring and it pushes the seal apart for you to easy disconect the system. So after trying both of them I went for the ring system and in the field they really work wonders...

Let me know what you decided....
cheers

Does anyone know any major differences between the OS dryglove system and the Bare dryglove system?

Prior to the dive just wear a good pair of winter gloves. Maybe get a pair of hunters gloves to keep your hands dry as well. Just before you get into the water put on your dry gloves or whatever you are wearing. Get yourself some wool liners for your dry gloves to wear inside. You'll be better that way. With your feet get yourself a larger size outer boot to wear over your drysuit boots, like a overboot. This will help keep the totsies warm before the dive. Like the gloves just remove them before you put your fins on. Have fun
