Well I did my first two ice dive training dives with my new Bare Nex Gen and the Bare CT200 undergarment. I stayed pretty warm, except for my hands and feet. My feet and hands were already cold before the dives from standing on the ice for a couple hours while setting up and tending line for other divers. Generally I was quite pleaed with the the ds and the CT200. Not a hint of a leak and my core stayed toasty.

I have just done a weekends ice diving in Europe, cant help with the feet, mine stayed warm. But on my hands I used some Poseidon 3 finger mitts - brilliant.

At the end of the day I emptied the water out and it was very warm !!

I'll be out trying mine this weekend. We're pre-cutting the holes Saturday for Sunday diving. You say your hands were cold? Do you have dry gloves, or were you using the old lobster claws?

They were dry gloves with a neoprene sleeve that I turned in over the latex wrist seal of the suit. I didn't feel water come in but the gloves seemed to be wet when I finshed the dives. I should probably go with better gloves and even the ring system.

try dry gloves. They're worth it.

As for feet, what were you wearing?

My dry gloves seem to leak slightly around the rings. Maybe I'm just not seating them firmly enough?

What would I add to powdered wather? Some cans of steam, I think.

I wore a set of fleece socks under the attached neoprene booties and then the trek boots. I'm pretty sure that my feet got cold from standing around on the surface ice for a couple hours before the dive. Definately need better dry gloves.

I'm looking at getting dry gloves for my nex-gen as well. You guys have any suggestions on how to do this or where to get parts?

This past weekend was the first time my feet got cold. Good poly socks were in wash, so I wore cotton. Just not quite enough in 39deg water.

Hands got cold though. The gloves just aren't cutting it.

Planning on doing an Ice diving trip near the end of march up near Banff.

LOL... thats perfect. Hadn't thought of that one!!!

Paco - I think that you're probably right about the waiting that got you cold. Hard to warm up after that. Also, I'm sure you thought of it but don't tie your rock boots up too tight - make sure those feet are still able to get circulation. I wear a pair of "smartwool" socks because they wick away moisture, leaves me pretty toasty!
Not quite sure what dry gloves you have though.

bcsean - don't go to banff without those dry gloves! I got a pair of skaana's for xmas - alot of guys around here use them

When are you going to Banff? I need to get myself out there too

Banff trip is end of march. Going with local dive shop if I can get a couple days off. Really hoping. I'm gonna be calling a few local shops for those gloves today. Those look sweet, and they are exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks bridgediver.
