JM - think this is more about preventing uncontrolled ascent than establishing buoyancy.

My other half has just purchased a Pearl i3 and the dump system caused me the same concern. She has her Rescue in November so will watch with interest... think the addition of a standard inflater may be best.

Ive done rescue drills a few times on a guy who has the i3 control system on his BCD. When i do rescues i come i grab them from the front and lift them that way so i never encountered problems reaching the controls. Once i got used to it i actually found it was a remarkably easy system to use when doing a lift.
