Well, not knowing what you're looking for I'll use the shotgun approach:

For general information start here:

http://scuba.about.com/cs/beginners/a/utlearnscuba.htm
http://www.diveoz.com.au/learning_2_dive/default.asp
http://library.thinkquest.org/26371/intro.htm
http://www.diver.com/

You may be able to get informatin about the gear on sites like

http://www.scubadiving.com/
http://www.scuba.com/aboutus/melscorn.asp

You'll be able to find some industry news on sites like

http://www.cdnn.info/
http://www.sportdiver.com/index.jsp

Information about decompression threory:

http://www.hyperchamber.com/dive_tables/
http://www.riaanmarx.0catch.com/deco.htm
http://www.deepocean.net/deepocean/science04.php
http://www.rgbmdiving.com/

You'll be able to find information about training standards and the excercises you need to do to become a diver and specific agencies on

http://www.wrstc.com/main.php
http://www.iantd.com/
http://www.gue.com/

..... among others. There are many training agencies but these are the ones I know of who put standards on the website. One of the members on scubaboard "walter" once wrote an intriguing article about the differences in training standards. If you send him a message via the "personal message" function he may give you a copy.

Also, google (et al) is your friend. You can search the archives of this website using the "search" link in the menu. Your library will have many books (with bibliography) on the subject and local commercial diving operations may be able to provide you with information about commercial diving (what I mentioned relates for the most part to sport diving).

That should be enough to keep you going for this weekend.

Good luck.

R..

From reading your post you must be an Aggie!?!
Could be a math whiz, though. ;)

Guinnessy, that excellent list of references from Diver0001 will keep you busy for a long time. What made you interested in diving? What country are you in?

To me that means agricultural major, and/or farmer. I am an aggie. I really hope that's not meant as a slam.

Welcome to the board.
This link may be of some help.
http://health.howstuffworks.com/scuba.htm

I would suggest you add information to your user profile, like where you live. I get the impression that English is not your first langauge. That would explain the uncalled for Aggie joke.

I was thinking Yoda.
Mmmm Knowledge of diving you seek. Yes? Yo-da. It is Yoda you seek. Take you to him I will.
(I kind of have R2 pictured with a first stage reg. on top of his head)
Sorry. That was no help at all, but it was fun.

You don't say what types of info you are looking for. Do you need info on gear, places, theory, agencies that certify divers, etc...? Give us a direction to go and maybe some specific questions and I'm sure you will get answers. In the mean time, try the NAUI or PADI home pages. www.naui.org or www.padi.com

Hi,
I think this is a great site, but you also should try your local area yellow pages for a close dive shop, most owners will give you tons of info and heck you might just try a intro course! Its a blast,Dive shop or your local Y may offer dive training,
Your best bet is the dive shop,Good Luck on the paper! and you may not get a dive in before its due,but try it =More of the world is under water !!
