I have been certified for years and finally can afford to go on "real" diving vacations. I am wanting to go to the Caymans and want an all inclusive resort location. where should I go? who has the best deal? I am fairly limited in my "vacation fund" but for the right price I would save for a few years to be able to go. I just want to know who has all inclusive packages. I have looked on the websites but they are so confusing.

There are two places I would look at and I have been to both. One is the Little Cayman Beach Resort on Little Cayman of course.

The Little Cayman Beach Resort

The other would be the Brac Reef Beach Resort on Cayman Brac.

Cayman Brac Beach Resort and Diving | Brac Reef Resort

Both of these resorts have great rooms, GREAT food, and great diving. We are going back to the Brac Reef Resort the first week of May.

I will tell you that you can many times go for less than the published rates. I think the LCBR is offering a very good deal right now for a few of the summer months. We are going to the Brac Reef Resort for several hundred less than the advertised rate.

Anyway, these are just two suggestions that I know for a fact you'd be very satisfied with.

Do you mind sharing? What is the LCBR very good deal for the summer months? Also what is the "several hundred less" than advertised at Brac Reef?

Sure. The LCBR has a deal going from August 1st - October 31st (I guess it's a summer/fall timeframe) for $1344 that includes all meals, taxes, service charges, and 12 dives. (6 days of two tank) That's a pretty good deal for them.

As far as the Brac goes, I'll send you a PM.

I have been to Little Cayman Beach Resort both times in August when you get the best deal. It is sort of out of the hurricane alley. Also early August is a bit early for major tropical storms.

The diving is excellent on Little Cayman and there are several other all inclusive resorts on the island.

Sunset House only includes breakfast - so not a full "AI". Cobalt Coast isn't either but they offer an optional full meal plan. Those are pretty much your "AI" options on the west side of the island afaik. I'd want a car at Cobalt Coast also, it's pretty far north. From Sunset House you can walk to downtown Georgetown.

The Reef resort on the East End has a "Simply AI package" that includes everything but diving.

They also have dive packages if there's two of you.

You'll probably have to rent a car also for the drive out. It's pretty quiet out there also, most of Grand Cayman is clustered around Georgetown and Seven Mile Beach to the west.

Per Brac Reef's website's special, looks like $1395/pp gets you 7 nights, 6 2-tank morning dives, Breakfast+Dinner daily, plus free airfare from Miami.

The flight from/to MIA would be on Cayman Airways (CAL); connecting to there would be via a generic "Major Airline" and probably will require re-checking of checked bags ... allow for a slightly longer layover if doing it all in a single day.

CAL did have at one point a direct MIA-CYB flight (they still might, but I haven't looked lately), but it left early enough in the day (~noon?) that we couldn't fly down from NYC to MIA that morning early enough to make the connection .. our solution here was to fly into MIA the evening before and get a room at a nearby Hampton Inn (or equivalent; Hampton has a free breakfast) that has shuttle service to/from the airport...IIRC, it was something like another $75 or so for the Friday night room.

The flight we are on leaves Miami at 12:30pm so you still may not be able to get there early enough. It's a straight shot to Cayman Brac.

I did a week with Cobalt Coast on GC with their optional full meal plan. Great resort and on-site dive shop Dive Tech is top notch. There is also great shore diving right in front of the resort with free air.
