I didn't know where to post this because it did come from DIVER magazine (March 2004, p33): it's a flying RIB and is used for shark spotting in the Bahamas, but didn't quite fit under Accessories or even Boat Diving... but this is one COOL way to get to a dive site...

I have a camp on a local lake we often get to see one of the neighbors flying by with one of several similar units. It has to be real calm or he doesn't go up.

He has one with huge rainbow theme. Maybe 30' to 40' wide. Very nice.

i imagine so. any real downdraft, and he's toast. also,
that "wing" strut would probably not stand any sort of real
wind for it to fail.

looks fun, though. man, it makes me want to fly again so bad...

I've never flown anything myself but I get the itch everytime I see the guy. It looks like so much fun.

There is a place on the Danube river in Belgrade Serbia where can rent a similar contraption. They get up very high, when we first saw them we were at the castle on a bluff 150-200 feet above the river, and they where higher than us. The scary thing is you dont need a permit, or any instruction to rent one.! :shakehead

Ok - it's definitely cool...... but I must admit - my first reaction was to laugh out loud!!

I think I would roll on the sand laughing my b-hind off if I was standing there and this baby went tootling on by.

That being said, I'm off to see where I can get one!
