It's getting warmer out now and time for my yearly hair cut. Problem is I usually just walk into the shop and tell the stylist "You are the artist, make me look good." I usually get a decent cut, but I am ready for a style that looks good on me and fits my lifestyle-a diver!
What to work with:
I have a lot of fine brown hair. Doesn't hold a perm real well. Currently it is shoulder length with my bangs grown out almost enough for a ponytail. There is a little body, but mostly my hair is straight. My face is round, and I wear glasses. A short cut with a curly perm makes me look like Little Orphan Annie... My age is somewhere between a spring chicken and a mature adult...I don't want to look like I am trying to relive my 20's, or am getting for retirement!

What I want:
I am looking for a cut (perm, highlight also??) that is wash and wear, can spiff up with mousse if needed, and be controlable under water without a hood, (I hate it when my bangs float in front of my mask...is this when I get a dee rag?). I would love really short hair, with some loose curls like Halle Barry (but with my round face, it might not work very well).

Thanks in advance for your suggestions...

I would say from the picture in your profile.....just take it to the shoulders ... and remember to remove the snorkel first.\

Why DO they call them "permanents" when you keep having to do them??? Try something outrageous, 'cause it will always grow out.

I'm thinking pink hair here... in a "flamingo cut"! :D

About eight year ago, the Lovely Young Kat went from lower-back length to "page-boy" in one swift cut when she got tired of messing with it for diving. Now it's almost care-free and looks great.

My neck and legs aren't long enough for a cut like that!

Ya know, I am always "suggesting" to my friends to try outrageous, funny, I don't take my own advice!

People do this on the board all of the time. :D Sometimes it appears that they are playing Russian Roullette by proxy. They won't suffer any consequences when things go "south".

However, I don't think that hair will ever become a safety issue... so get freaky wid it. I do with my hats!!! :eyebrow:

Hey Jennie- I have almost the same problems you have, except that my hair is blonde. I highly recommend highlights- they will puff up the individual hair strands, and give you more body. Mine is currently cut in an almost shoulder skimmpin flip, and it's really cute and easy ( a little gel, a round brush and a blowdrier). Good luck!

What is a shoulder skimmpin flip? Sounds interesting...

Kind of a Meg Ryan look- my hair is long enough to put in a ponytail (just- my bf calls it a "hair fountain" cause of the way it sticks out)- when it's down, the ends flip out instead of under.

Well I keep telling my GF to go "High and Tight" like me during dive season but she doesn't think it looks feminine so I guess I am not much help. :D

The only problem is then you get sunburn on your head too....ouch.
