I think the airline execs are sniffing jet fuel fumes.

I just don't log dives
I have been keeping an eye on a flight to Curacao on American Airlines. Two days after American reported huge second quarter losses this year, and one day after a bunch of news reports came out predicting a huge surge in swine flu starting in October, and a likely shortage of vaccine, the price of the flight I was thinking of jumped about $250.00 per ticket.

I guess its like "Hey we didn't sell a lot of tickets earlier this year and we are probably going to have trouble again real soon, once the flu hits, so let's jack up the price and see what happens."

The price hike is just enough that despite not getting air miles, I will probably have to take a different airline, unless the price comes back down. I may even need to shelve the travel plans.

Am I the only one that gets tired of this stuff? I am pretty sure the price increase isn't because they have suddenly sold a bunch of seats. It is entirely possible that the price will go down or up tomorrow or the next day.

Unless your flight plans require you to go in the next week or two; I'd wait it out a bit. I was looking at flights last week to Dominica in November. It started at $900 per ticket and about 4 days later was down to $600 per ticket. I don't understand the crazy pricing algorythms, but it pays to wait and check back frequently.
