Does anyone know a good ENT specialist in the Houston area that understands diving?
If you do please give me a contact number.
I have had allergy / nasal polyp problems for a long time but it has never interfered with diving - until last week...... (I have been treating the problem with Flonaze and Allegra).
I got a bit of a sinus headache on a flight a week ago but it cleared quickly and I thought no more about it until a couple of days later when I was doing a practice dive at 20' and got a severe reverse block on ascent. Since then I have had stronger indications of sinusitus in my front left sinus.
What I have now is a 'horse and cart' problem. If I am lucky I already had mild sinusitus and that caused the block - antibiotics and flonaze and all will be well.
If I am unlucky the block was caused by a polyp and then some damage / irritation from the block caused the sinusitus. Unfortunately this seems more likely as there were no indications of infection before the dive.
I went to a local ENT who has put me on antibiotics and scheduled a CAT scan for a couple of weeks time. He might be fine but he was out of the phone book and does not have any diving background - hence my request.
I would really like to talk to someone who has a clearer understanding of diving issues and, preferably, some enthusiasm for the sport.
