hi all, seems we need few people to have handbags at 5 paces. when it comes to the ocean we are all newbies in one form or another. Everytime we go diving we learn sum thing new.

what is the definition of a newby, I have met sum instructors which can be referred to newbies. diving is a passion and we should respect everyone who uses the water with us, nothing gives me greater satisfaction that asssitng a ' newby' and seeing them learn sum thing and the joy they have when they master it.

Us oldies should see it as a pleasure to assist others.

hehehhe my 10 cents worth

Diving with enthutiastic divers is really fun, whether they are new or not.
New or not, I still find my self amused by many many things, even only by watching cleaner fish doing their job, or see my friends blowing their bubble hard trying to get good shots of things.

However, with newly certified divers, I don't have many experiences, but I hardly found enthutiastic ones. I categorize them in three:

- Like everyone's say, this group is enthutiastic and really grateful with what they see, they minggled and socialized with everyone and had fun. You just know that they will come back again.

- This group pay more attention to their buoyancy and their problems: equipment, adaptation etc so much that they didn't really enjoy the dive and surrounding.

- This group is grouchy, they expect the type of diving they see in TVs, clear water, abundant sea lifes, feeding frenzy or whatever whatever, but the diving they did doesn't impress them, "Only that?"

On my first 10 dives, I was belong to second group. After that, nothing can talk me to give up this hobby, well, except money..

OK, since we are talking about enthusiasm for diving, I have to say that the best group of divers that I have dived with are handicapped divers. They put in 110% and are just happy to be in the water. Everything after that is a bonus. They are eager to practice and master the skills that they can do. As a DM, I wish all OW students had this same attitude.
