I have an idea for this section...how about just include a link to RBW and be done with it? This is shameful. A disgrace to the rebreather community. A travesty.

Hey, aren't you supposed to be in your rebreather class right now??

BTW, the inspo I bought was a mess (which I knew going in, and paid accordingly)...in storage for 2 years so it was filthy, every piece of metal had salt water corrosion, there was dried out falling apart duct tape on every hose around old colored hose covers, suicide clips tied everywhere on the BP with square knots and 2" frayed ends... a mess!

Friday my upgraded HH head from Juergensen arrived, and so did my JJ-CCR BOV. So I spent Friday through Sunday taking every inch of the thing apart and cleaning it. I did vinegar sonic cleaning to all the metal parts, including the LP/HP hose ends, scrubbed with brushes, and then a simple green bath. I soaked the lungs. BP and convoluted hoses in Simple Green, cleaned and rinsed. I tossed every single O ring and replaced it with new. I re-rigged the harness webbing. I cleaned off old yuck from the box. i rebuilt the ADV.

There are Maddog stickers on the tanks, and I'm leaving them. There is a Maddog patch on the left lung, and I'm leaving that (in fact, I think I'll add my PADI DIR patch on the right lung :eyebrow:). In the next couple of weeks I'll rebuild the Apeks regs and the valves, and O2 clean the tanks. One of the tanks is the euro, so eventually I'll have to replace it (it's already out of hydro, but I fill my own).

So the money I saved on the kit I pay for with grit. The upgrade to the head and the BOV actually cost me more than the rest of it.

I ordered 2 containers of sorb and 4 O2 cells (and then when the head got to me, I see they put in 3 already). I still need to order cleaning agent (Virkon S?) and scrim and more O rings to replace all the ones I used up. I'm thinking of adding a dil/bov manifold.

I need to learn the head controls. I put in my passwords yesterday and that's it.

My class doesn't start until the end of May, so I have some time.

Class is over and I'm certified to do harmful things to myself now. :)

Sounds like you should of just gotten a new unit, but hey..if you like to do all those things than it works out. I'm not much of a hands-on guy..I'll do some basic stuff, but nothing to complicated. :)

Yeah, even if something is new, I'll take it right apart and start tinkering with it. :eyebrow:

I got lucky, the classic insp I got used was is good shape, other than the expendable items that needed replacing, like the o2 cells. Problem is, the harness (and lungs) is an XL, when I could really use a med. I am managing in the pool, but eventually I want to switch.

Well, I would chirp more, but a nOOb diving outside of his training should talk less and listen more. :eyebrow:

My class has been put off until August.

I have about 10 hours on the unit so far.

:shocked2:

Ummmmmm.....:shakehead:

That's why I'm only saying it in here, where no one will see it.;)

Actually, I do have a mentor who is a tech diving instructor and Mod2 ccr diver. And keeping it basic...

How about Solo, Vintage, RB diving?:shocked2: I'm working on a reproduction of an Electrolung like I dove decades ago.:D
