I just gotta tell of you about the neatest sight I saw today. I would be posting this in the Basic Scuba section, but I wasn't diving when I saw this.

For my job today, I had to go to Freeland, WA, which is located on Whidbey Island. Nothing unusual on the ferry boat over (it was dark and couldn't see anything anyway), but on the way back, after parking the truck, I went up to the passenger deck and sat down next to the big windows. I was just looking over into the water and, son-of-a-gun, there was a seal swimming around on the surface. I got to watch him for quite a bit before he dove down and then the boat left the dock. As we approached the Mukilteo side, the captain got on the intercom and annouced that there was a pod of killer whales just off the oil dock on the government property. It was really neat to see them all surfacing and blowing and slapping the water with their fins, and then all of a sudden, one of them came completely out of the water. WOW. I had never seen that before, except on TV. AND THEN ANOTHER ONE DID IT. DOUBLE WOW. Two, right in a row.

Man, I wish I would have had my video camera with me. Oh well, maybe next time.

Unexpected sightings are always best!

That would have been awesome to see. I've only seen whales at Sea World.

I forgot to add to the original post that I did see some divers entering the water at Mukilteo when the ferry boat was coming into the dock, but then I had to get down to the truck. Bummer!!!

What a way to ruin a fairly good day at work.....watching others going diving.

What about the seal? Killer whale's love seals. Maybe it was using the boat to get away unnoticed? The sight must have been impressive though, wish I were there.........
