Well i started my divemaster about 6-7 months ago. At first the dive shop was eager to move me through the program. I was doing classes with them i did all my stamina work, and like i said i did some pool work with students. Now it is coming down to the book work. I am getting no help from my instructor or the dive shop that i have gone through. I went Friday to ask for some help with the Physics part. You know with the Tissue compartments things , with doing the math on how to solve the problems in my book. They told me to come back the next day and another divemaster who works there( a owner) was to be there as well as an instructor that teaches for SDI or SSI whichever one it may be. Well the div emaster was there, but he could not help me with it. So i ask him if the "Encyclopdeia of Recreational Diving" multimedia version could help. He tells me that it could do better than he could and the instructor that originally took me as a Dive master Canidate could not help me that i might as well get it . What a sellsman. I bought it. Now i come to discover that there is no interactive features that can teach me. I was under the impression that it would help me like the Instructor was suppose to. As well there is another Divemaster Student. He started after i Did. They have pushed him through, and done all they could do for Him to push him through. The SDI Instructor has taken him under his wing teaching him all that he needs to know for the PADI course. My original PADI instructor is the Same as the other canidate. I understand that the PADI OWSI has given the diveshop permission to teach the other canidate , he has done all his exams and everything. They will not help me, or do as they have promised. I know that there is suppose to be class work related to this class, I asked if they did anything for this other Divemaster canidate if the diveshop would please include me, but they have not...... Is there anything i can do about this situation? I want to become an OWSI and i am not getting the proper training, What should i do? Please help me someone......................

No i Did not see that , and i am up against some shop politics.
you have not posted on where you are..If anywhere near,I will be willing to check into what can be done to accomplish your goals..

The previous version of the Encyclopedia was more interactive, but it had quite a few errors in it... I would suggest you get a copy of the Diving Knowledge Workbook and go through that, using the Encyclopedia as a reference.

Complain. Loudly and continuously until they help you. You have paid for the course, which, in fact, puts them on a contractual obligation for them to provide you with the service they sold you.

If they can't, or won't, help you then you should probably pressure them to refund your money so you can take your business to a competent instructor. It's pretty clear to me that any instructor or DM who learned what they were supposed to have learned to get their qualification should be able to explain anything you have to ask. Frankly, it sounds to me like you're wrapped up in a game of the blind-leading-the-blind. If I were you I would personally be very concerned right now about the quality of the course you're (not) being given.

OP, Yes, there is a form where you progress can be documented. I agree that you should find a new instructor, and get a refund. Beyond that, you might check out a book called Recreational Divers Guide to Decompression Theory. Also, I assume you have the knowledge workbook? It is the instructors obligation to make sure you understand this stuff. I might also notify PADI about this instructor.

I agree with that. Get PADI on the horn, or better yet send an e-mail so it's documented in writing. Probably best is to do both. Start with a phone call, then say something "I'll send an e-mail as well, so everything's written down". Have it ready, and send right after phoning.
