I was thumbing through the newspaper adds and saw the canon a75 at staples for $199. It included a 32MB memory card with the camera plus another 128MB card as a "bonus" along with a gift pack and a coupon book. I went ahead and bought it today. I also noticed their 256MB memory cards were on sale after all rebates for 24.94 and that included a free compact flash card reader. Plus there was a coupon in the coupon book for another 5 bucks off. Well, needless to say I bought one of those also. The gift pack has little things like Microsoft digital image suite 10 trial edition, small lens cleaning kit, mini tripod, screen protectors, picture frame magnet, mini photo album, memory card wallet, 2 post-a-photo things and 25 free prints on snapfish. I spent a total of $250 bucks and I still have a $10 easy rebate I have to apply for at staples.com. Anyway, just wanted to brag on my purchase. I'm pretty happy right now. I plan on ordering the housing in a week or so.

Let me know what else I need except more memory. What are your thoughts on rechargeable batteries, do they charge well and do they last as long as normal batteries when shooting? I'm kind of leary about them so reassure me so I can give my wife some more Christmas ideas. Thanks, Greg

You should definitely get the rechargeable. Best one is Made-in-Japan AA 2300mAh NiMH batteries. Sony, Maxell, Panasonic(2400mAh)... are a few companies who make them. Don't buy from EBAY or online since most of them are fake or over-rated. I got mine in Japan last summer when I travelled there. If you have a hard time to find those, you can go to your local COSTCO and get the Panasonic 2100mAH pack. it comes with 6 AA, 4 AAA, and a quick charger for around $40. Totally worth the money and will save you from frustration of dying batteries.

congratulations!!

Yes, get rechargeables. 2 sets. Go for 2300's...2100's will work, too. normal batteries are next to useless with digital cameras I have found.

Great. I'll look for some soon or ask for gift cards for Christmas. Here are a few pics of our new cat that I took this evening. Enjoy! From the looks of things I've got A LOT to learn about this camera before May. Take care all, Greg

I buy all my NiMH rechargeable AA batteries online from Thomas Distributing. I prefer the PowerEx brand. I also use the MAHA Smart chargers. I haven't fully tested the 2300 batteries but I get 2 full dives with power left over out of the 2200's.

BTW...congratulations! Look like a heck of a deal!!!
