My wife and I recently lost our PADI OW certification cards on a trip. Our
PADI Nitrox card have our OW cerification numbers printed on them. Will this be sufficient for a dive operation to allow us to dive?

I don't want to send PADI an extra $60 for replacement cards if I don't have to.

It may depend on the operation. I would call and check if you can, or just get the replacements. That'll be cheaper than not going on a trip because of the card issue, and possibly not getting a refund.

If someone doesn't accept a nitrox card as a c-card, I wouldn't dive with them.

So if your number is the same you shouldn't have a problem.
Typically when you fill out a wavier you fill out all the info yourself, I've never had anyone ask to see my C card or my Nitrox card, from what I've read it's pretty common that they don't ask to see it.

If it is a PADI resort they can verify your OW online if they have a need to. But there should be no need to with a Nitrox card.

Too cheap to dive
I don't see how they're too cheap to dive. Why spend $60 if you don't have to?

ScubaKris:
I have been certified for 32 years
Where does this play in?

ScubaKris:
I still don't understand why divers spend so much money to get certified, then thousands to go on a trip and would be so cheap to not buy a replacement card.
As I said before--why spend the extra money if they don't have to? That was their entire point of posting.

Take an advanced course and get your advanced cert card
THe traffic cop will not let you off for not having a license by showing your last ticket.
...again, where does this play in with their question?

Why don't you just answer their question instead of accusing them of being cheap?
The answer is--you shouldn't need your OW card if you have your nitrox card. If whomever you're diving with STILL requires you to have your OW card, they're clueless and I wouldn't personally go diving with them.

Too cheap to dive.
No, I just don't want to spend money for no good reason. If the nitrox card is sufficient then why spend the $60 for nothing? If that's cheap then so be it.

Your(sic) probably the guy that tips for breakfest then stiffs the divemaster that would jump in to save your life.

Nothing like making incorrect and, may I add, stupid assumptions.

I have to agree with SparticleBrain. You have to have an open water card before you can get a nitrox card. Therefore, common sense dictates that if you have a nitrox card, you have previously done your open water course. Any operator that refuses to honor your nitrox card is clueless & you should definately reconsider diving with them.
