Hey everybody,

I'm a hypnotherapist (as well as a diver) and I have been developing a session for divers, especially students, to help them stay calm while diving and increase their breathing efficiency.
I noticed there's a big market in sports performance enhancement in relation to hypnotherapy, so I figured, why not specialize in working with divers?

So far I've had good results, but since I know there are so many instructors on this board, I was wondering what other problems or issues that most newbies have that I should also address.

I'll leave training issues and all that to you guys- I'm just here to handle the attitude, anxieties, and stress levels!

I'm not an instructor or divemaster and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night but most would benefit from visualization techniques (visualizing being properly trimmed, not using the hands, being calm and floating serenely, etc.)

i tried 2 types of hypnosis for my sea sickness once.......:errrr:, didnt work

What sorts of hypnosis did you use? Did you go see somebody, or use a tape or something?

With something that possibly physiologically based, suggestions might not have much effect on dealing with it. UNless you think it's a learned behavior or an association you've made.

1st one was the mp3... with a funny american accent... when i heard "like returning to your mothers arms" i burst out laughing and the deleted the thing

next one was visits at a clinic for about 5 weeks

i am open to alternative methods of treatment, my iridologist & reiki lady are often spot on with my ailments, so please dont think im diss'ing you

my sea sickness is chronic.. i recently found some sucess with a wrist accupressure zappy thingy but i believe its also because it helps me put my focus elsewhere than obsessing about being on a boat and that seems to help (though i havent tested it in sydney water yet)

??? What significance does staying at a Holiday Inn Express have? I'm genuinely curious

You must have a TIVO and skip over all the good commercials!

:D

Funny American accent? You Aussies are the ones with the accents! :)

(My wife, who gets ill in any kind of vehicle, uses one of those wrist zappy things. It works great for her though she'll take Bonine too if on a boat. The trick is to read the manual and pay attention to how you are supposed to align it. When it's placed right you feel the zaps in 2 specific fingers, I think. There is also a "prescription" version of the device that uses more current.)
