I dove there the middle of September. First time there. I thought it was fine. Not crowded. Actually one beginner class and another class. One or two other buddy teams. Our club, Olney Scuba Adventures Dive Club, brought about 7 divers. I dove from the walk in entrance and headed around to the sailboat. We followed the wall and ended up on the opposite side. We stayed above the thermocline which was at 30 feet. The rest of our club started at the dock and swam around. There are a few things to see. The viz seemed better than Millbrook. Probably about 10% of the divers at Millbrook. Lots of fish following you around. It was $20.00. A little more expensive than a prepurchased Millbrook ticket. From Wheaton, both are about the same distance. I am planning on going back in mid October.

Is it open to the public or only for clubs?
I had heard only clubs rented the space.

Directions from Baltimore?

We dive Hyde's all the time -- it's about 10 minutes from our house, so for is it's a quick "hey, wanna go get wet" dive.

It's usually open Sat/Sun, and during the warmer months it's open on the 1st and 3rd wednesday as well for "happy hour".

It's open to all -- Undersea Outfitters runs it. Give them a call for details and directions. 410-517-4999. It's just outside of Westminster, down Rt. 31 and off a couple of side roads. It does get used for classes many weekends though, so vis is usually better early, before too many people get in. Vis is also seasonal, varying with the changing water temps.

It's wet rocks, but it's closer than some of the options.
