Continental Airlines Offers Low Rates on Flights to Bonaire from Houston and Newark
Continental Airlines is currently offering extremely low rates for the winter season on their non-stop flights from either Houston or Newark when booking through their web site.

Sample round-trip fares from Houston to Bonaire show $398.00 (plus taxes) and $548.00 (plus taxes) from Newark to Bonaire. Add-on fares from additional Continental gateways also offer low rates (sampling Denver indicated a round-trip fare of $548.00 (plus taxes)).

Seats at these rates are capacity controlled, so those wishing to take advantage should make their plans as soon as possible, and other restrictions may apply. According to the Continental web site, these rates will be valid through February, 2009. A new rate schedule appears to take effect in March, when rates of $398.00 per person (plus taxes) are available from Newark to Bonaire.

First checked bag is only $15, second $25....so two bags are $40. I keep hoping the airlines will pull their heads out and get rid of at least the first checked bag fee, but I'm not holding my breath.

Wish I could take advantage of the fare drop, but at least we're set to come in June/July for 2 weeks, so I can't complain too much. ;)

Per Continental's website for international travel (first checked bag, you don't pay):

The second bag policy applies to flights within the 50 U.S., Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada and for flights between the 50 U.S., Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada and Mexico, Caribbean, Central and South America (excluding Brazil).

An itinerary such as Austin to Houston and connecting to London, or Beijing to New York/Newark and connecting to Mexico City will not be subject to the new fee.

The first bag policy does not apply to international travel.

That is correct Martha, Ed and I are in the US for the holidays and they did not charge us for the 1st bag, but did for the 2nd.

Also, I have heard that Delta has also come through with with great pricing too...

Dang I already booked Curacao on American. However I finally got to use miles.

Thanks for posting though great to hear about the travel deals.
