Well, it figures.....I'm scheduled to go to coz in early Dec and it looks like Wilma will get there first. I sure hope the hotel is still standing after Wilma's gone.

GOOD LUCK YOU GUYS!!! WE'RE HOPING THE BEST FOR YOU ALL!!!!

My flight was supposed to land at noon today. I was looking forward to getting wet but not by Wilma. Now we can't go at all and the trip is cancelled. Good luck to you in December. I have been to Coz twice and enjoyed it both times over and under.

And my wife and I are (were?) scheduled for Nov 9th, for our third time in 2 years ... don't have a trip cancellation yet, but then again the organizer is down on Coz right this minute (I hope he is OK!).

I have my fingers crossed and hope for the best for all our friends and colleagues down there. Our poor Cozumel is getting it right between the eyes now ...

I'm due to go to Coz on Nov 5th and stay at the Palace Hotel, if that's not badly damaged. I wonder if it would be wise to cancel this trip? Does anyone have any idea of how refunds work with airlines and hotels within two weeks of a planned trip? Went thru an agent who is now up to his gromet with stranded travelers so I don't want to bother him just yet.

I won my trip at DEMA last year. It was only valid from Sept '05 to Dec '05 due to hurricane damage from last year. Seems I'll never get to use this trip. I hope they will extend the time allowed due to the fact that I am bringing several full paying people with me.

Go figure......

The last hurricane to plow over coz in July 2005 did not do too much damamge to the northern hotels. The southern ones like presidente were more affected. However, most, if not all, were up and running in a day, week, and very few took a month. I was in coz at the end of August as Katrina was hitting the Gulf Coast...and you could hardly tell, with only some lagging clean up on private property, gazeebo replacement at a dock at a hotel, all probably taking time as the result of the time it took to get insurance money.

I would play it by ear.....and continue to search the web for damage updates.

155 mile per hour winds are fierce enough to topple buildings, but if any topple, you will hear of it. The only concerns should hopefully be electricity, water (but bottled water can be provided by the hotel), no broken glass at the hotel, and the seastates for your dives. These may take a day to a week to get back up and running.

I'm worried how it will be in two weeks when I head down that way? Mostly, I hope everyone is alright.

Makes two of us, PF....I remember when Dennis blew threw and the guys from PDC were out of business for about a month. I do remember one guy saying that if we wanted to help, come down to dive. Nice sentiment, however, I don't think my wife and I want to sleep under the palapa, if it still exists....

A co-worker was in Tulum for that. He showed me pictures from his camera phone where the roof was torn off and half the building collapsed.

Yeah, I would like to help out too but we have New Orleans, Mississippi and I'm not headed that way to get in the way and come down with some desease. Don't know what the right thing to do is? No hotel, no food or water? What would be the sense?
