Anyone hear anything from Roatan today? Looks like the rain bands are starting to hit the island (CNN this morning).

I hardly ever get time off...just my luck.

Best of luck to everyone in the path of Dean! Be safe!

When are you leaving for Roatan??? should be ok if it is later in the week....CoCo View has a webcam when it gets light in about 1 hr you should be able to see what is going on....unless it has started storming and cams go down....also they have a chat board and some of the people that are down there will get on the board so you might ask the question there....good luck:)

from the looks of the satellite they will feel some effect of the storm....

Oops looks like the dock cam is the only one working today and you can see the boats but not out to sea

ok now they are both working....for now....

We get there Saturday and are headed to AKR. I am thinking they will take the biggest hit (north side of the island). :(

yep they will.....we went to CoCo View when Wilma was sitting over Cozumel....AKR was closed while we were there because of the damaged but it was minimal...we took a day trip around to the West Bay area and you could see how the foliage had been burned by the salt spray and water....still a bit too rough to dive over there so we went back to the south....the weather was great by that Tuesday but the currents were wicked....never seen them like that there before....anyway Wilma was a bigger storm I think.... so maybe nothing with happen....I would call the resort on Tues or Wed to see what they are saying...otherwise stay tuned to CoCoChat....

Outer cloud bands have arrived on Utila, East wind has dropped, and sea is flat, very very muggy!

I'm here in West-End, Roatan and Dean is currently going past us. So far it's been ok, but let's see what happens later tonight. It was 4:33 PM in Roatan while this message was typed. We didn't dive today, but I still have electricity and internet access. I bought fuel for the generator, just in case. As of yet there has been no need. Even with beautiful tropical sunny weather, which is the case most of the time, we don't always have reliable power or web access. So far this has turned out to be a good day, except for the no diving. I'll keep you posted when we head back in the water.
