I am buying a new Faber 117 HP tank, i didn't know if i should switch to Din Fitting or keep the yoke on it.

I have a Worthington HP X8-119 with a PRO Valve and a year old Legend LX with a yoke 1st stage. I frequently have the pressure near 3500 psi and I have yet to experience any difficulties.

I have removed the adapter plug from the valve on the tank twice to use a DIN 1st stage from my sidemount rig and have found no difference from the yolk.

I just got a pair of Blue Steel 117's from Leasure Pro and am using the yoke adaptor. It's ok, but I do get some blow by at first before the o-ring seats. I've lost a couple of O-rings taking the reg off the tank with a little residual pressure so be sure to bleed the pressure down. Also, the boots that come with them aren't terribly stable and I had one fall over with a regulator attached. This pinched and ruptured the O-ring & about half the air was lost before I could get there and close the valve.

I'm too cheap & my reg's are too old to switch to DIN.

Din is great for keeping a lower profile on the 1st stage, but really not needed at 3442. Now at 4000.......I'd go with din. It's just sensable.

I think there are values to DIN at any pressure higher than 14psi... There should be no real problem theoretically with yoke arm strength at 3442 psi, as long as it's not an old regulator with very thin yoke arms, but those are typically stamped with a pressure rating on them.

If you leave the insert in, you should remove it periodically (say, a few times a year) and put some grease on it to keep it from seizing in place. Your dive shop should have some if you don't already have any.

I have used my Worthington Hp tanks with yoke regs for years without issue. Never even had an o-ring fail.
