hej everyone
just got my new first stage and it has 2 HP ports(lage screw) + 5 LP ports (small scerw)
so I ask:
1. whats the difrent?
2. what shold I connect to HP and what to LP
3. my second stage has a small screw so I will be able to connect it only to the LP port
but my consol has a large screw,

Thanks

Hi!

As you may (or may not! ) remember from your OW course, the only piece of equipment you have that takes an HP port is your SPG -- because it has to read your tank pressure directly. That's why your console has the male end to match.

Everything else (primary and alternate second stages, BC inflator hose) go into the LP ports... which are also the only places they'll fit. The only trick will be to figure out which hose goes to which port. For normal recreational use, the console (HP port) will be on your left side, low. BC inflator hose will be left side, high. Primary second stage will be right side high, and alternate will be right side low. The four hoses should come out of your first stage in a symmetrical flat "X" pattern.

If you lubricate the o-rings (which is debatable, since these are connections that won't be taken off often, and you don't want coming off accidentally once you attach them), lube them so that they're barely glistening. Turn them finger-tight, then snug them just a little bit with a wrench so they don't come off... not too tight, or you may damage the threads or the o-ring.

when u say SPG I belive u mean my console right? well evrything fits....well allmost
my octo has a lage screw at the end and that means the its will go only in the HP port....unless I will get a screw adaptor....

I'm guessing you didn't buy this from your Local Dive Shop... My advice (for what it's worth) is to take it in to the LDS and have a professional put it together for you and ensure it works as it should. May keep you alive.

i am not sure what you mean by your octo having a large screw at the end. are you talking about the hose or the actual octo? i can assure you, however, that an octo belongs under absolutely no circumstances in an HP port. HP ports are strictly for SPGs (by the way, a console is not an SPG but an SPG is PART of a console next to whatever other instruments you carry in your console). you seem quite confused. since you're taking the course right now i propose you show your reg to your instructor and ask him where everything goes if you don't have access to a shop for some reason.

Oh.

Submersible Pressure Gauge -- the one that shows your tank pressure. It's on your console -- the only thing that attaches directly to the hose.

That doesn't sound right. The octo should not be attached to the HP port!! In the Old Days (20 years ago), HP and LP ports and hoses were all the same diameter -- like LP ports and hoses are today. But as far as I know, there's no reason for your octo to have a large-diameter fitting. Something's wrong here...

Divetahoe (edit: and now docmartin) have a point... you really should take the stuff somewhere and ask in any case, if you don't have experience. If not a local dive shop (who may be less than amused that you mail-ordered this stuff, though I'll bet price was finally a consideration! :eyebrow: ), then at least ask your dive instructor. He or she should be glad to help you.

I *strongly* suggest you take the regulator [pieces] to your instructor and ask him what to do with them.

Are you going to guess like that on something keeps you alive under the water?

well of course my instractur will cheak all my equepment, when he comes back from Caina, in the minwhile I am trying to learn everything I can about diving, diving equipment, and enything to do with this sport...I do that by reading all the info I can found on the net and the books I got.......
I live in a very small city in Denmark and the closest Dive shop is about 70 KM....thats why I cant run to him every day ...

Thanks for all the answers,

Negev
