Hello all,

Once again looking for some advice – especially since you guys have never steered me wrong in the past.

I have an opportunity to buy 3 HP80s for $60 each. The catch is that they are out of hydro. Last hydro was 2000 on 2 of them and the 3rd has never been hydro’ed w/ an orig hydro date of 1990. All still have air, and according to the seller, have never been totally empty. The brand is US Divers.

What do ya think?

I'd pass, but thats just me. Your gonna have to hydro and vip them all, who knows what they look like inside, maybe you'll get lucky though

sounda like a deal to me.

you could always ask the seller for a sale conditional on passing hydro after you get them. that's pretty fair.

$60 each is a good deal though. Even if he sold "as is" with no guarentee, I'd still buy them and take the risk. (where I live I can get a hydro, vis and fillf or about $22 bucks)

Since they still have air in them, I'd take the risk too.

Bad idea. Buy new ones and give me the name of the place that has the 3 tanks.

Man, you guys are quick - Thanks for the replys.

Yeah, that's me. I prob did a big fat face-plant on the landing - I do a killer face-plant!

I think that sounds like a good deal, I would ask for the conditional sale if he is willing to do it. The way I see it the seller has nothing to loose, he currently has out of hydro tanks that he would like to sell for 60 dollars each. You want said tanks and are willing to pay for the hydro if they all pass he gets paid. If they don't pass you are out a few dollars and he still has his tank that is as useless after the hydro as it is now. (no current hydro = useless to most people who don't have their own compressor)

If he balks at the conditional offer I would see if he would let me drain the tanks and take a peek inside, if the tank is dry and free of pitting there is a good chance it will pass hydro.

Either way it seams like a good deal to me if the tanks will fit the profile of the dives you do or are planning to do

YMMV

Zeb
