Just stopping in to say howdy. I'm in Costa Rica for the moment, but after Sunday will be back and local to the SE Texas area.

Have another friend who'll be looking to get certified as well!

Just curious, what kind of ~local trips are available in the gulf right now? I know the rides are long and that drives prices up....

Do you know how much they run.

I find the new page layout confusing too. If you go to the bottom of the page and click on one of the trips, then agree to the agreement, it takes you to a page where you pay, and that gives the price. The next one in Sept was $525 + $65 if you dive Nitrox. Some trips with fewer dives are cheaper. All shops have pretty much the same price because they are reselling berths on the same ship. There might be one other ship that takes divers out. Aug was kind of the end of the 'good' season. Weather will play an increasing role in the dive experience from now until next June.

And here's a not too ancient archive of a Houston area diving discussion

We also have a diver charter here on Lake Travis that's a lot of fun, Lake Travis Scuba. They go out to some pretty cool places on the lake that you cannot get to without a boat. They have 2 tank drives in the morning and afternoon on Sat and Sunday and a one tank dive on Wens evening, Welcome to Lake Travis Scuba.

Thanks for the links guys. Unfortunately I'm very new, so I think the flower gardens is way out of my ability/certification at this point in time.

the rig dives look like something I could do however...

Rather than start a new thread, I'll bump this one....

So i FINALLY got my stupid cert card...., and it looks like I'll be selling everything I own to get gear again ;).

Is there anyone in SETexas area interested in a newb tagging along? Carrie, would y'all be opposed to me and all of my 6 dives coming over to austin(even though it IS austin.....:P) and diving? I'm psyched, the weather is turning good, it's time to rock and roll.
