Hello to all. Would anybody be able to tell me how I would be able to tell if my Atomic
Z2 first stage was environmentally sealed?

I don't have a Z2, but most likely the environmental seal is the same as on my Atomics B1.

The B1 environmental seal is grease in the ambient pressure port. Look for a black rubber ring that encircles the 1st stage body. My environmentally sealed B1 has a continuous rubber ring around the body, about 1/3" wide. No holes in the rubber ring. Pulling the rubber ring aside exposes a bunch of white grease. (That's $15 of oxygen compatible grease for my nitrox capable reg. A non-nitrox reg might have some cheaper silicone grease)

The non-environmentally sealed B1 has a similar rubber ring midway on the body, but it has several holes, a bit smaller than a pencil diameter, that let water in and out of the ambient pressure chamber.

Of course, you could also just take it to the dive shop where you plan on eventually having it serviced, and ask them. :D

It's an option on the Z2, so if you just bought it as is then it's probably not sealed.
Take a picture of it and post it up

Currently Atomic uses Two manufacturers of the "white Grease" which is A PFPE oil thickened with PTFE (teflon). One grease is Christolube and the other is Tribolube. To the best of my knowledge there is aproximately 1 to 1 1/2 ounces in the ambient boot
Of the first stage. Silicone is not a good idea as the Mfg. suggests you use an O2 compatible grease as they do in their manufacturing process. Hope this helps but if you would like more technical information of these greases I would be happy to email those to you as attachments.
