Well I am sure that everyone has heard the news about the gas prices going up and no end in sight, for now. How do you think this will effect the dive travel industry? Will this rate hike just be until things start working again? or do you think that it will keep going up? This will make flights more expensive, charters more expensive....what are your thoughts?

I booked thru American Airlines on 8/28 CID to NAS for my Aqua Cat trip Oct1
and the price has gone up $134.00 since Sunday
I am glad I booked and payed early :crafty:

Boat dive prices will go up in addition to airfairs.

Don't worry they will probably whack you with an additional fuel surcharge when you get to the airport, as they have done before. :)

Yes, the charters will cost more too, in addtion to the pick up costs and all that other fun free (but really is included in the price) stuff...

Simply prices will go up for travel. Travel uses refined oil product which go up so travel goes up.

Yes, the prices will go up, but will that stop you from going? or make you go on less dive trips?

Most "experts" like on CNN and so on agree that gas could top off @ $4 a gallon but that would be a near ceiling. So no, according to them, it's not going to be like a regulator freeflow. AAMOF, Bush just recently tapped into strategic oil reserves to help counter the demand and price of gasoline. Kudos to the Bush Adm.

I hope any price increases that charters apply 'because of gas prices', will be retracted when gas prices subside.

on a personal note, i don't think i'll be making the 150mile round trip for one dive on a wednesday night anymore..
