Hello,

During a dive, the Suunto EON Steel computer will calculate the average depth of a dive - from the surface, all the way to the bottom.

My question is this: once at the bottom, is there a way to reset the average depth, so it will track my average depth at the bottom or working phase of the dive?

If the computer can do that, how would I go about making this adjustment?

Thanks in advance!

Shearwater Teric and likely some of the other models have it. As to usefulness, it allows the average over a portion of a dive to be known during the dive or without downloading to a PC. I've used it to calculate bailout SAC on a CCR dive which was discussed around the picnic table post-dive. Just saves a bit of time is all.

There are also computers which provide simultaneous display of both CCR and bail-out ascent profiles. A nice feature which doesn't seem very widely available.

Yes, I have seen one but never used it. I thought this type of data was a fairly common feature for the non-basic computers (especially the ones that can be used for CCR), but from what I can tell, it is a Shearwater and Ratio only?

It certainly isn't Shearwater and Ratio only, but "degraded ascent" (so "bail out", "lost deco gas", "alternative GFs" etc) certainly seems like it should be one of the primary pieces of useful information that a dive computer would be displaying
