How does one travel to Pulau Tioman from Singapore? Are there several ways to get there—what are the choices? Cost? Thanks.

Shockingly, I can't give a full answer since I always sail their direct from Singapore on our LOB. Although that is one good option. :D

I believe you can still fly there direct from Seletar Air Base but I don't know which airline it is that does this or the cost. Many people that DIY trips from Singapore take a taxi to Johore Bahru on the tip of Malaysia (S$40 from downtown Singapore), then a taxi from JB to Mersing (3 - 4 hours, about M$100 if you don't negotiate much), then a ferry across to Tioman (1.5 - 3 hours depending on the speed you want to travel & type of boat - faster is more dollars). I believe the transfer is around M$30 - M$75 but that could be off). You'll get more detailed answer at the forum on the link in my signature.

Thank you, Zippsy!

Or you can go to any dive centres and book a trip

I’m not looking for a diving trip; I’m simply looking for ways to get to Tioman from Singapore (and that does not involve diving or paying for diving).

I flew there from KL so I'm not sure about Singapore. From Singapore in 1999 there was a hydrofoil that took 3 hrs if I remember correctly! It actually stopped directly at Salang (where I was going) - so would have been my transport mode of choice as a flight + airport clearance + water taxi to Salang would probably have taken as long - for more money. I'm afraid I don't know who operated the hydrofoil or where it goes from in Singapore - or even if it's still running - but it is probably worth checking out!;)

I’ll look into this option—thank you, Kim.

BTW, has anyone tried any of the transpotation mode mentioned in the link below?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Vie,
to get to tioman from singapore :
1. Take a cab from Rochor taxi station to Johor Baru. A shared cab will cost S$8.00 per head. Alternatively private charter will cost approx S$32.00
2. From Johor Baru take coach to Mersing which cost approx Ringgit 10.00.
alternatively take taxi . both shared or private charter available. taxis will take you directly to Mersing jetty where ferries will take you to Tioman
3. Ferries wil stop at several villages on tioman so make sure you get off where you want to. Fare is approx Ringgit 30.

I travel to tioman by road several times each year and so I know what 's involved.
PM me if you need more info or clarification.

The ferry direct from Singapore to Tioman no longer runs. That used to be the best option but I didn't mention it because you'd wait too long for a ticket now.... perhaps a few years.
