jeckyll:Where is that "PADI Specialty: Internet DIR Diver" card when you need it?
catherine96821:hey did onfloat post this thread?
okay...so I will answer FOR him.
in quotes: I put non DIR divers on "my program"
I let them know what the irreducible minimums are.
No solo, have a sound gas plan, etc.
They usually like diving with me so much, they say "okay, Tom, you win"
...end of quotes
I'm not DIR, but after reading this thread and coming across your post, I just had to reply.WeekendDiver:I'm 95% DIR, and though initially I preached I've stopped that. Initially people give me the hairy eyeball when they see my rig in a tropical location, after a couple of dives they tend to come up to me and ask all kinds of questions. I'll explain elaborately and gives lots of examples of why certain things make sense. ("when is the last time you tried your octo at depth"? etc). Combine that with an extensive (but small) save a dive kit and people's interest increases exponentially. All that being said I keep dropping my knees while frogkicking..
