It would be interesting to see how her wetsuit fit over her dress and how her fins fit her pumps :06:

Okay, I will give you that. Maybe Carol Brady or should I be thinking of Alice would be better?

Seriously though, Men need to treat women with respect and dignity, but women can sometimes be a little more traditional in some aspects of their lives to "win over" those men who will treat them right. It needs to be a full partnership with both sides contributing their strenghths, not men acting like women or vise versa.

BTW, I think there should be equal opportunitys for all in regards to education, avocation, safety, the pursuit of happiness, etc. But I believe men as a whole ought to grow a pair and take more responsibilty for their and their families welfare, including financial support and when possible the mothers should be the primary care giver of the children. This does not mean men can make women second class citizens!!

So maybe June, Carol and other TV icons did represent something a little better.

Sorry on getting serious, just my humble opinion for what it is worth.

Dave

This must be from the same publisher as my 1950's cookbook with the 'How to hold a successful dinner party' section. "...Be certain to have a clean ashtray next to each place setting..."

Some revisions are good!

I know it's a different era but I always related more to Joe on Facts of Life than the girlie girls of years gone by.

Better? Different. Just because a woman isn't waiting at the front door in a dress, heels and a ribon in the hair doesn't mean that she has any less to give. I don't believe in such deliniated roles for men and women. I think I can be just as much a woman in my jeans, t-shirt and ponytail as June ever was. And yes I would rather hang out in the garage than the kitchen, but I have also been known to make a beautiful candle lit meal too. It's really all my Dad's fault...he had a manly man's profession and yet would still help cook, clean and even iron. To me true marriage is all about the partnership not who does what.

So as you said

So as you said

Sorry I struck a "chord".

Have a Happy New Year, hopefully with someone you care about.

BTW, you misread my earlier post. I apologize that I am that poor of a communicator.

No apology needed. Not mad or anything, just merely sharing opionions. Thought it was all just in fun. Sorry if I appeared to be too serious or upset.

Unfortuantley I easily get lost reading the postings. What did I misread? :06:

Yikes... I wouldn't have lasted a minute in the 50's. Reminds me of the movie 'Mona Lisa Smile'... anyone see it?

My mom says she was given a book about how to be an appropriate wife to a military officer and that it said his career path could depend on her, her dinner parties and her appropriate display of support and understanding!!!! YUCK!
