At a five star resturant they keep and maintain the highest quality servers because they make more serving people that clearly do not mind paying more for quality.
What about pizza hut?

Treat others as you would wish to be treated...
Most people don't want to be treated how I want to be treated.

Besides - all I really expect is the server to take my order, get it CORRECT, bring it out, and keep the water glass from getting empty. Pretty basic. My standards are not real high here.

Crew make their own tip with me. It is all based on their friendliness and attitudes more than if they carry or set up gear. I don't mind doing that myself. I want the crew to just be nice and easy to approach and speak with. You know fun and friendly.

If I get a crew that is interested in making sure we are relaxed and enjoying our trip they will get a much better tip. This limited dive time is very important as far as I am concerned and would make a deduction. Come on, I came here to dive. I have never run across 40 min limits. That is just too short.

Take the maximum amount or percentage you are willing to tip and start subtracting when you get on board. A relaxed and friendly atmosphere and crew is something I look at more than most other things. I am not nearly as worried about food, gear, etc. That may change as I get older but for now I like to travel and I don't mind to tip. I like to meet folks and get to know them a little. The crew make or break their own tips.

Personally my husband and I tip depending on the trip. If the operation is running a tab for the week, we then tip at the end. If they are charging us per day then we tip per day. As far as the amount, we usually tip $5 tank unless the service is exceptional and then we usually throw in another $5 for the two of us. Hope this helps and have a great vacation!

IŽ´m going on my first dive vacations to brasil. Do you usually tip after each day of diving? or do you tip the last day?

Tips. Wow. What a concept. :)
Not done in this area. I wish.
We provide water, soft drinks, all the help and fun you can handle. We encourage you to get the most out of your dives.
Our DM always gets sandwiches and muffins for the day and does it out of their own pocket. When one guy rented all gear, he found that he had fins that were too small, even though he thought he had the right ones. Sage, my DM, gave this guy his booties and nice fins and dove with rental fins that actually were too small for him too. Awesome guy, huh? And they don't get tipped. Gotta work on that....

I do it @ the end of the trip---lot easier on me the customer---you know the 'right one'.....lol....they usually don't care when you give it just as long as you give it..

Thanks a lot to everyone... we´ll be getting a dive week package (5 rides / 2 tanks per ride) so I think will be tipping the last day. The 2 tank boat ride is $50 (outside the package) so I think will be tipping between $50 - 100 for my wife and I depending on service. I´ll check with one of the travel agents who will be going with us.
