Hi all!!

I normally dive a full 5-4-3 wetsuit with 3mm hood and boots and an AL80 and use 16 lbs of weight. This weekend I am borrowing a friends 2 piece 7mm farmer john to see if I want to purchase it, but I don't have any idea how much more lead I'll need to be neutral.

Any help would be great and no I won't be able to try it out in a pool before I go.

Jeff

I'll guesstimate another 4-6 pounds.

With that configuration and given the weight you hvae now then I think you'll be able to start with 24 lbs and dial in from there.

Have you tried a Buoyancy check? Do a check on site and you should have a good idea what you'll need. I would suggest if your diving Al80's try to do a check with it just about empty (about 500 psi or so in the tank ) you'll start off a little heavy but towards the end of your dives you'll be perfectly weighted or close approximate to compenstae for the buoyancy of the cylinder. No one can tell you the exact amount you'll need. Your going to have to figure it out. When you do, write it in your logbook. That way you'll know next time. Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Rob
