I'm a new diver (10 logged dives) with a newbie question. I'm going freshwater diving this weekend with a new wet suit (6.5 mil 2 peice.) I 'd like an estamation on how much extra weight I'll need to bring along. Up to this point I've only worn a 3 mill shorty, with which I only need 2lbs of weight. Any thoughts on how much more weight I'll need for the 6 mil 2 peice?

it is worth getting in the water and finding out how much you actually need by going to 15 ft with a near empty tank <500 psi and adding weight /taking it off untill you are neutral. take enough (20- 30 lb ??) to get down and then start taking weight off to get neutral. When i went from salt water to fresh water i took off 7 lb and i could have possible taken off more.

hope this helps

Those are all pretty good suggestions. I was playing with my weighting last weekend.

With a 2pc 7mm wetsuit, hood, gloves and an AL80 I use about 16 pounds. (puts me neutral with a nearly empty tank at 10') (I'm 5'9 150#) I'm still pretty new to diving so I'll probably lose some of that.

Have a good time diving this weekend!!
