Just wondering how many pounds of lift my Seaquest Balance gets. I'll be in NC with a Steel 104 on my back, looking to put a 30cf AL pony on that, and I weigh 160. Any suggestions?

It depends on the size, here we go, taken from the Seaquest website.

You have PLENTY of lift. You may even need to wear some weight.
The 104 is about 6 lb. negative full and 1 or 2 lb. negative with 500 psi.
The Al pony will be about 2 lb. negative full and 2 lb. positive with 500 psi.
Most folks your weight will be close to neutral with a 3 mm farmer john.

I believe a 104 is more than 6lbs negative when empty.
A hardback (hardpack) means the tank mounts on a rigid part of the BC. A 104 would be too much tank for a softpack.

You'll be fine with the Balance. I dive one with a steel 15 liter, which is, I think, the equivalent of a lp104. It does have a hard pack and I've never had any sort of slippage or tank movement. Like theskull said, you will likely have to add a bit of weight, but you'll still be okay unless you are terribly overweighted.

I went diving this weekend (freshwater) with my SeaQuest Balance, LP 104 Steel and an AL 40 pony in 3mm jumpsuit and hooded vest with no additional weights. I am 5' 10", 175 lbs., and was just slightly heavier than perfectly balanced--PLENTY of lift!
Also dive the Balance with an LP 131, and sometimes with an Al80 (with which I need to wear 4 lbs. lead in fresh water).
Dive safe and have fun,
