I'm curious. When and why did Buffett fans start to call themselves "parrotheads?" I've been a Buffett fan longer than I've been a diver, but it's only in the last 4 or 5 years that I've heard this term.

Me too, Walter,
In concerts, Jimmy refers to the audience as parrotheads. It may have something to do with the stuffed parrots in the audience, but there are plenty of shark hats ,and fin heads too.

It is my understanding that at a concert in Cincinnati, OH years ago someone came dressed as a parrott. (mascot type suit) Jimmy looked out and made a comment about his big parrott head and the term stuck.

I can't remember where I read that so take it for what it is worth. :)

From what I have heard. I have been a 'parrothead' for about 12 years now. I started listening to buffett in the 8th grade. The term parrothead was around then, but of course I lived in cincinnati....where he used to do 4 concerts on consecutive days. The shows would sell out in about 3 and a half hours....and the lawn seats (where many of the true parrot head fans hang) were just a blast. you got to see a lot of titty back in the day (8 to 10 years ago.
