how many dives / how much time for openwater checkout dives?

Um, I think it's a bit late to comment on things, although it appears the OP did manage to get a certification (considering he's now an instructor with several hundred dives). :D

(Incidentally, if you read this, adjuster-jd, have you done the scubacache in White Star Quarry? I logged a find on that this summer on my whirlwind tour up from Louisiana. It seems the only geocaching I get around to now is underwater or CITO events.)

Yo dude, try answering threads from this year. The op who was thinking of doing a referal for his open water is an instructor now! In the future it would be a good idea to look at the date of the last post (2003) before you enlighten us with your wisdom.:shakehead:

I was in this thread originally, as a relative n00b and I'm now an instructor with a couple grand in dives under my belt.
