After church, I'm going to a pub and watching the Euro 2004 championship game. That night, I'll probably watch the the Fourth of July Pops celebration in Boston on television. I love hearing the 1812 Overture at the end, right before the fireworks. If that doesn't stir you, you'd better check your pulse...

ahhh... but have you heard the Detroit Symphony Orchestra finish their annual 4th of July concert with the 1812 Overture? It's outside at Greenfield Village, uses the real cannons from the Village and leads off the fireworks. Very cool!

As for myself, I'm headed to Pennsylvania in the morning to visit my parents and grandparents. & a few cousins. No diving but perhaps some river tubing. & swimming in the creek behind the 'rent's house.

Here's wishing everyone a fun yet safe holiday weekend!

I'll be spending the fourth with another Scuba Boarder and her family in Kansas.

I will hopefully be having some pool time on the 4th, but eitherway it will be a nice relaxing day with family and friends.

On Monday I will be going to the quarry to practice some skills with my buddy.

Our dive club does a 4th of July Dive and cookout at Pearl Lake. A couple of other ScubaBoarders will be there as well!

We have out of town family in from San Diego. I'm expecting everyone here at 1PM.

Two briskets are just about to come off the smoker. I made hickory smoked bacon baked beans, double baked potatoes, a fat free, sugar free, carrot cake and pumpkin pie. I also have a coconut pie, banana cake and jello mold.
The pool is 88 degrees and the Jacuzzi is 100. We have red white and blue lights going across the pool. Fireworks can be seen from my front yard at 9:15 tonight. Should be fun!

Well.. it started early this year. The glass doors first shook in their tracks at 0737 this morning and its been completely sporadic all day. Fireworks, firecrackers, airborne rockets, random gun fire thrown in for fun. I could set up targets using the dumpsters as a backdrop and shoot dozens of rounds with my carbine and nobody would even notice! I've even brought the dogs inside to protect them from falling sticks that are still smoking. Ahhhhhhhh yeah, I can't wait to move away from urbanization again!!

I went and pigged out all day and blew up $3800 worth of fireworks. Sad to report one injury that required a trip to the hospital, nothing too serious, but serious enough.

Well the weather was just perfect. And I got everything done that I previously posted.

At the fireworks display there was a little pause. My 6 yo grandson asked, "Are they all over with, Poppy." I said,"Oh no, we have to wait for the 'grand finale'".

He turned to his mother and said, " Hey, Mom, they aren't over we are waiting for Fran Cannalli."

(typical grandpa here,sorry)
