I've stayed at Hotel Cozumel a couple of times and would stay there again no problem as it's a good value and conveniently located. Also used Dive Paradise while staying there and they did a good job. They do have bigger boats with heads and they have the smaller, fast boats. I do believe you pay a little extra for the fast boat service vs their big boats which is fine as most ops charge a little more if they offer the small, fast boats. Reserve that ahead of time if that is what you want because space on the smaller boats is more limited than the big boats. You haul your gear on and off the boats each day and store in lockers there near the pier.

If you want to splurge a little try Blue XT Sea Diving. Christi will take good care of you and you can do your referral with Arturo. They pick up in town, at Hotel Cozumel and all points south of there. They cost a little more but have thje small fast boats and they take care of your gear for you all week. No hauling and rinsing, the way vacation should be!

I second all of the comments on this thread. My daughter and I go to Coz twice a year, we always stay at Hotel Cozumel, always dive with Dive Paradise.

What is it like on the fast boats?I've dove with them on regluar boats, enjoyed the dive.I like the idea of getting to the site quicker, but as i'm a 50's ish woman, diving on my own, will i feel out of place with all macho/gungho diver types that might be all that's on the boat?

As a woman in her 50s (OMG) who always goes on a fast boat many times as a solo diver, you will be perfectly fine. The obnoxious macho types dive on every kind of boat, don't let them spoil your dives. . Try a fast boat and see what your think about the experience

Here we go.
