DiveMaven:
Thanks for this information, we were thinking of doing a charter with Larry, but it sounds like we won't miss anything if we save our money.

Save your money, it's not worth it. The wild side isn't all that wild. :palmtree: Bob

Ok Walter, you have me confused. You serious or am I missing a joke?
It's a fun boat ride on a huge rubber inflatable. Nice dives but IMO not worth the $100 more than once.

There's no joke. I've heard good reports about Blue Hole and Cai, but everyone says you have to dive it with a guide. While I believe there must be excellent diving on the other side, I find it hard to believe an experienced diver has to have a guide.

I believe those 2 marked shore dives require quite long swims to get to the actual site :

I read this about Blue Hole (on Bonaire talk) [jibe city being the windsurf school next to were Larry's boat is located]

"Your best entrance is near the stone that is by Jibe City. You will need to walk across the bay(about10 minutes with gear) to get to the actual ocean shore line. Providing the surge is not too much you can enter at that point. It is about a 30 minute snorkel(toward Jibe City) with full dive gear from that point to the Blue Hole. The Blue Hole is not close to any shore entrance. It is in about of 12 to 14 feet of water depending where the tide is when you do your dive. This is why everyone is highly recommending a guide. It is not accessible across the bay in front of Jibe City because of the shallow shore line, coral and waves. If you are determined to do this dive on your own my last recommendation would be to do it as a snorkel first without dive gear. Be absolutely sure you can find it because the waves take a real toll on the body during the long snorkel with full gear."

Now I understand. Larry has a large inflatable boat we took a trip on, we were not shore diving. We did it mainlyfor the boat ride....and it is a ride and to get a look at what is on the other side of the island. He does put a guide in the water but no we did not need one.

Not worth the money $105.00 for a two tank dive!!! We took a group of 10 to dive with him no break in the price. Went to a 45 hole and a wall that was suppose to have big marine life and current(drift dive) Never saw any of the large marine life Spent 35 minutes downon each dive, had 1750 left on the guage and the dive master brought us back up. Seemed like Larry had other places that he wanted to be Dove with BUDDY DIVE... GREAT OPERATOR for 1/2 the price, saw more, dove more. Dove most of the shore locations, those were great. Bonaire is fantastic, Larry....welll not such a good experience!!

Larry is a living legend. If you don't believe it, just ask him. He'll tell ya.

I'd keep the $100 and drive and dive.

Just got back three weeks ago. Dove it without a guide. I do recommend talking to a local and get directions on dive...we did and had no problems. It is a long kickout to the edge of the reef and a bit tricky getting back, but not something you can't do if your experience.
