How far do you usually have to go in order to dive? (restrooms don't count ;) )

google maps says 6.1 miles.

14.5 miles to my preferred dive shop.

i travel 2 hours one way every weekend from April 15 thru Oct. 15 from louisiana to
Degray Arkansas. I also travel 1 hour 2-3 times a week to teach scuba in Eldorado Arkansas. And I love every minute of it. Hopefully I am starting a dive shop here next summer.

Well, here on the Marietta OH/Parkersburg WV area we'd expect around 2 to 3 hrs to our "local" lakes/quarries, sometimes nearer 4 to 5 hours if we want to head to Mount Storm WV, or Gilboa/Portage Quarry OH. We usually get two dives done, sometimes three, which makes for a complete day out.

We do have the Ohio river on our doorstep, but we just don't go there.

Our LDS sets up a driving trip to Big Pine Key, FL for a weekend's diving - left on Thursday afternoon, back home Monday evening. That drive takes about 24 hours door-to-door. ...probably why they only do it once a year.

Right now I can't drive over 30/35 minutes and I'm at the most westerly end of the Island, but at home usually an hour to the lake or 2-1/2 to the scuba park.

As I mentioned, within 35 minutes there are some 70+ dive sites, makes for tough decisions.....:D

There is one dive site that is about 6 minutes from where i live...has a really pretty anemone garden. There are others that are 20-30 minutes away, and others that are hours away. Though I'm not certified yet (going on my OW dives this weekend), I've done all my research on dive sites in the area. :D

It takes about 45 minutes to go to either of my usual dive sites, both are fresh water.

There are two places we take classes. 5 hours for OW. 4 hours for AOW. That's pretty much it around here. :0(
