Just curious...

I bought a 5 mil hooded vest to wear with my wetsuit for colder water diving.

Do you wear the vest under, or over your wet suit?

I wore it ovr my wet suit this past weekend and was warm enough, but I am wondering if wearing it under my wetsuit would reduce flushing.

You are correct. Under.

I wear mine under, also.... it is neoprene, and helps me keep a little warmer...or at least I feel like it does...

Locally many divers use these hooded vests. I always use one. I've never seen one worn on the outside of the wetsuit. Everyone puts tem inside. Although in theory they should word as well if you put them over the wetsuit

Works better for me on the outside...but below 70 I'm in a drysuit anyway...YMMV

Thanks for the answers. So the consensus is to wear it under.

This makes sense and is what I thought anyway, but when I bought it at the dive shop, they mentioned wearing it over, and even recommended going up a size to fit over my wet suit. So it confused me a bit.

I'll try it "under" next time and see how that works.

I wear mine under, but it is my impression that I actually get more water down the back of the wetsuit when I do that. At least, I am never aware of that first cold thrill on my back when I'm not wearing the vest.

Does the vest breach the neckseal of your suit? I take it this is not a hooded vest.
