Take away the canvas bags and this is what we use. We put weight pockets on the bottom shelf, fins, masks (in their open boxes) on the top shelf, hang BCs, regs, suits, gloves/boots/hoods and our gear bags on it. In the summer it stays in the garage and in the winter it goes in the basement. With the wheels it's easy to roll out and we use the hose to spray stuff off.

I'd recommend you'd store your gear in an environment that you would live in.

I store all my gear on open shelves and a 6ft clothes rod in the basement, right next to the washer/dryer, sink and door to the alley. I do not store my gear in the boxes I use for transport.

I did go through and add an air supply and return in my basement so that way the basement is now part of the conditioned space of the house.

I mounted a fan which blows at the SCUBA gear to aid in any drying.

It hangs in my bedroom closet.

Moving into a new house? Now's your chance to build a walk-in dive locker!

Ideally it should have a variety of adequate storage and a bench for assembling gear.

This is in our laundry room. I can park right outside so it's not far to haul gear.

I built a 3X4X6 box on wheels that has a bar for hanging things and shelves and a door. holds all the stuff I use regularly, and then the tanks and rest of the stuff goes in the garage. will try to get a picture. :D i call it the "water closet"

Thanks for posting this question. I am not anywhere near of getting my own home (house) but its a very interesting post (hopefully it will get a lot of replies) for when I finally do get a house of my own.

The funny thing is ... I read a similar post years ago and thought, I dont need to worry about it as I dont see myself as getting a house. Time flies so fast ... you never know ;)

Love this idea.

Thanks. One thing though is that I've heard you shouldn't store gear around sources of ozone. I'm not sure how much ozone the washer and dryer might produce if any. The water heater's not in the same room.

My gear lives in the garage during the summer, much like selkieDVM, but during the winter, it lives in a spare bedroom. I'm a bit leery of leaving all my stuff outside in the freezing cold..

Would that cause any problems to my stuff? I haven't been diving too long, so still new to this..
