I think i have my list together for all the products for my new gear purchase.

Let me know what you think please! (Thick skin on)

This set is for single tank dives, Warm water.

Oxycheq Ultra lite Back plate
extra stiff harness (D-rings and positions, as suggested by DIR)
18# Oxycheq wing
7' hose Miflex
Scuba Pro Mk20
Scuba Pro HP250
neck mount hp250
Scubapro cams

130 Steel tank

Dui 30-30 Dry-suit (reserve lift for heaver tank with only 18# wing) I'm thin and will be diving a bunch!

Prob. will add a back pad (skinny hips and back)
Prob will add the shoulder pads also, same reason.

Only thing i'm coming up short on, if i use the 7' hose, were should i route it, without
the light can... on?

Lift bag

dive tables

Bottom timer and depth

SPG clipped off on hip d-ring

Wrist mount computer (GASP)

Jet fins

backup mask

dive knife

Scubapro Jet fins w/springs

For diving solo (max 50') 19cf slung

solo diving off kayak S. FL

any suggestions or things i forgot?

Good point, if i'm doing a buddy dive off a boat, i could just have the 19CF with me all the time, and hand that off, and forget about the 7' hose?

Sounds pretty reasonable. I'd ditch the pony and the solo diving, though. Long hose is simply tucked into the waist band. easy peasy.

I say 50' but in truth were i'll be solo'n most, it will be under 30-40' and i'm not too worried. I don't feel the 19cf slung will create enough problems not carry it with me whenever solo. After thinking it over, i will probably just use it solo, and add on the 7' when i dive with a buddy and leave the 19Cf off.

I trying to get opinions if my buoyancy will be unworkable with such a small wing, heavy tank, and a dry suit...Or will i be able to work it all out without a major up hill battle.

a 30lb wing is a lot more versatile than an 18lb wing. Given the choice, I'd go with a 30. Trying to get too 'slick' can come back to bite you. Dan Volker recently wrote about how much easier diving is with a 30lb wing vs the 18 he had been using for years.

I would skip the 7 ft miflex hose. Not needed. Miflex is good for making small tight bends like for the inflator hose or necklace.

People tell me using miflex on the long hose is annoying in that it irritates the back of the neck if used without a hood. Also hear they are floaty. In any case, just no need that I can see for a long hose in miflex.

I would also get an aluminum plate rather than the ultra lite. Aluminum plate is simpler and will provide a more rigid platform, more utility as well as offer storage for things like DSMB's and lift bags.

Aluminum plates only weigh about a pound more.

Well you caught me, with the 18#.... slick is exactly what i was thinking, figured i could get away with it, seeing how i'm diving a dry suit all the time.
But that tank is heavy for sure. Maybe a 30# is in order, i could also use it for Alum. 80cf doubles also. thxs

I'm not 100% in love with miflex so ill ditch it. To be honest, it is a coin flip between the ultra lite and the S.S. travel back plate. Not sure, too be honest, how much more stable that travel plate is then the plastic ultra lite plate? Edit: I just read the Travel plate is S.S. and 2.2-

This is the travel plate im talking about.....http://oxycheq.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_10_21&products_id=278

I think you would find a 5' hose a little easier to manage. Either longer hose (under your arm) will have less tendency to hook onto stuff as you swim by. I love my 18 lb wing in the tropics but you do need to watch your lift requirements in more temperate water. Not to worry - if you stay with diving there will be more gear in your future.

That UL plate is OK in the water and great in your luggage. A hard plate will be a bit more stable but either is much better than the typical BCD.

Ah true. I've had 4 wings in the 30 range, and 1 at 18. Now I have an oxy mv5 in 30 and one in 18. 18 is my summer rig. Given that op is in DC, 30 would seem more appropriate for a first and all around wing. The mv 30 will not trap gas. One of my buddies dives a 40 mv here in the summer. no worries.
