Packhorse:
I assume you dive for said golf balls in a lake.
If on the other hand you dive for them in the ocean, I would put them all in a catch bag, tie a rope to it and tow it behind the boat while doing 50kts back to the boat ramp.
I heard this method works well with mussels too.

Yeah, all fresh water balls. I guess I'll try the washer machine. But some of theses balls have black stains on that an overnight soak in bleach has not affect on...

The ball washers on all the tees probably work best. I would talk to the greens superintendent and see if I could use one after hours. You can do at least 4 balls per minute. Some old balls with black stains may be beyond recovery.

I use to dive for golf balls and have cleaned thousands. On the ones with really tough stains I would put them in a little kiddie size plastic pool and soak them for a few hours with a strong mix of toilet bowl cleaner. On the balls found in golf course ponds all I would need to do was wash them with laundry detergent in the same pool. I would use a broom to move them around. On the balls found in the Sacramento river I would have to use the toilet bowl cleaner.

The city where I live gets their drinking water from the river, kinda makes you wonder...

True, but at 15234 balls... I don't have that much time :)

If they are stained black, unless you paint them, they are probably done for. Check with your local golf pro and see if he can get you a rotary cleaner at cost. They work better for large quantities that the vertical cleaners. If you're really good buddies with the pro he might let you use his range ball washer. Those are real good. As for detergent, I prefer either Gain Laundry or Dawn diswasher detergent.
