Spoiler.... Don't read if you want it to remain a mystery.

It's very simple. Choose your number, do the math and then find your symbol. BEFORE you click on the ball, choose another number and do the math. You will get the same symbol. The symbols are repeated in several places and their position changes each time you play. That helps to mask how it is done. Every possible answer has the same symbol.

OK, that is not too clear to me. I figured it had to be some basic number combination but that still does not explain how the symbol is guessed?

Just did the math for two sets of digits BEFORE I picked and did come up with the same symbol. Since there are many symbols, what is the common thread to pick that symbol? Is it a key number or several key numbers?

Here is the "math" behind the trick:

Any 2 digit number has a "tens" digit and a "units" digit.
(for example in "47" the tens place digit is 4, the units place digit is 7)

(WARNING: algebra ahead) :)

We can generalize any 2 digit number into "TU": T for tens place, U for units place.
The value of TU = (10 times T) + (U) [ 47 = (10 times 4) +(7)]

The instructions on the site say "add the 2 digits, and subtract the result from the original 2 digit number" [again using 47: since 4+7 = 11, we would do: 47-11 =36]

If we generalize that, using "TU"; it becomes (10T +U) -(T+U)= 10T-T +U-U=9T
So, your answer is always a multiple of 9.

{9 times a one digit value: in this case, 9 times the "10s place" value of ypur original 2 digit number.}

If you look at their chart-you'll see that all the multiples of 9, up to 81, have the same symbol.

Hope this helps,
Mike

How come I did it and got the wrong symbol then?

I can't figure out how this is done .Very weird.

It's yet another weird thing about the number 9. If you choose any number on the chart and subtract the sum of those digits from the number, it comes out to a multiple of 9. (Also, any multi digit number whose digits add up to 9 or a multiple of 9, is divisible by 9). So, there are only 9 possible choices of the symbol in this game.

Does it fluctuate with the value of the dollar???
