Going to Lauderdale for a week's diving. Can I ship my steel 120's there? Looked like it would cost me $150 to ship all 6 each way. I can't find high capacity steel tanks to rent for mini bug season, and I'd rather not rent AL 80's. Do i have to take the valve off to ship them? O2 clean upon arrival?

Thanks

It might be cheaper to rent tanks from Fill Express in Fort Lauderdale if thats where you are going? They have 119 steel HP tanks for $15 a day. 6X15=$90,

There are many shops that will rent you steel tanks, Fill express and dixi divers i believe will

If you want to ship that many I would put them on a pallet and ship them via freight. Because they will go ground valves would not have to be off but tanks should be drained to something like 100psi (Shipper dependent). I would make sure the valves are protected.

I emailed fill express and dixie divers- I will call them tomorrow as well-- I have found rental tanks scarce during mini-bug season, but maybe they will do it. Greyhound will actually ship them very cheaply as individual pieces. Anyone have a good idea on the best way to pack them separately?

Tanks aren't hazmats until they have 25 psi of pressure or more inside them (well, 40 psia if you want to be picky). So you could just drain them down to 25 psi and send them UPS, and not have to do anything at the other end but fill.
